The Co|Opera|tive

Discover opera and its place in the world through the Co|OPERA|tive!

The Co|Opera|tive invites the community, youth, and artists to think, enjoy, experience, and learn through a series of performances, discussions, films, and workshops. Every opera that POV stages offers an artistic lens through which to explore art in the context of the world in which we live.

The Co|OPERA|tive is everything we do OFF THE STAGE to help opera come alive.

Emerging Artist Recital Series

From Sea to C: Unexpected Journeys
Wednesday, May 8, 7:30 pm

Tenors Nolan Kehler and Kieran Foss perform with Csinszka Rédai and Robert Holliston on piano, and guest flautist Allison Miller.
As two tenors who have persisted through the intensity of a Master of Music degree, Kieran and Nolan now both find themselves emerging on the cusp of the professional world. It therefore seems only fitting that they close this chapter of their journey by taking you on a musical and extraordinarily eclectic road trip, before beginning their careers in earnest.
Everyone welcome; donations gratefully accepted.

An Evening of Chinese Art Songs
Friday, June 7, 7 pm

Here is a chance to hear a style of classical repertoire outside of the mainstream, including contemporary Chinese art songs, performed by soprano Chelsea Kutyn and baritone Xuguang Zhang.
Name your favourite classical Chinese art song or composer. Can't think of one? This is the problem we are trying to address ... to give a voice to music that is not often heard in Victoria or Canada for that matter.
Everyone welcome; donations gratefully accepted.
