Beethoven's only opera, Fidelio opens the season with its timeless call for human justice. This magnificent work expresses Beethoven's hatred of tyranny and his heartfelt sense of the fragility of freedom and the necessity of hope – all with music of heart-stopping beauty. A masterwork for all times, Fidelio is as relevant and inspiring today as it ever was.

Wim Trompert, who directed POV's 2014 production of Das Rheingold, returns to direct this unforgettable masterpiece.

Verdi's La traviata is his most personal and compassionate opera – and one of opera's greatest love stories.

Alain Gauthier will direct, with production design by Christina Poddubiuk. Lucia Cesaroni, the beautiful Mimi in POV's 2018 production of La Bohème, will return for the role of Violetta.

Pacific Opera Victoria is working with four other Canadian opera companies to create a memorable new production of this glorious and deservedly popular opera. This historic five-company co-production will be staged for audiences across Canada over the next three seasons. The co-production partners are Manitoba Opera, Edmonton Opera, POV, Vancouver Opera, and Opéra de Montréal.
