Stage Management Apprenticeship
Pacific Opera Victoria is including a Stage Management Apprenticeship in its 2008-9 Young Artist Program, which runs from March 21 to May 1, 2009.
The Apprentice Stage Manager will apprentice with POV's Stage Management department on the main stage production of The Magic Flute and the Opera in the Schools production of Elijah's Kite.
The focus of Pacific Opera Victoria's Young Artist Program is on the training and development of aspiring professional artists. The program is intended to benefit a Canadian artist who has completed or is completing pre-professional training in Stage Management and who intends to make a career in the professional opera/theatre field as a Stage Manager and who is not a member of any professional performing artists' association or union.
The Stage Management Apprentice is engaged under the jurisdiction of Canadian Actors' Equity Association. Ideally, applicants should be able to read music and follow an opera vocal score.
