The POV Producers Campaign recognizes donors who give up to $999 a year to Pacific Opera.

What does it mean to be a POV Producer?

  • You are a partner in the creation of original opera productions.
  • You are an investor in the company, with a stake in POV's artistic success and financial health.
  • You are a creative force helping to protect the vitality of the arts in this community.

Make no mistake, it is only with the help of donors who care passionately about opera that we can continue to bring you the vibrant, intimate productions you expect and deserve.

Last year, we weathered a very abrupt economic downturn thanks to the support of our patrons. But even as signs of economic recovery began to emerge, the BC Government announced drastic cuts to arts funding. Once again, we had to revise our budget to balance financial stewardship and artistic quality, while keeping our long-term commitment to four-opera seasons. Even so, we need your help to meet this season's financial challenges.

What does your support as a POV Producer accomplish?

  • You help us create completely new, locally built productions, as envisioned by Canadian directors and designers. These are not rental sets and costumes, but original productions, built right here in Victoria, for POV audiences.
  • You build a future for opera in the community. POV's Artist Training Programs nurture fine local singers and emerging artists from across Canada. Our outreach and education programs introduce live opera performance to students and share the music and stories of each opera with the community.
  • You support unique opportunities for outstanding artists. As just one example, soprano Erin Wall, who rocketed onto the international stage with recent debuts at the Metropolitan Opera and La Scala, is coming to POV for an important role debut – her first performance in the demanding and beautiful role of the Countess in Capriccio.
  • You benefit personally with an enriched operatic experience. To thank you and to enhance your involvement in the productions you help make possible, POV presents special Producers' Events – closed working rehearsals, private concerts, and tours of our Production Shop to bring you behind the scenes and inside the productions you support.

Producers' Events

To thank our donors and to enhance their experience of the productions they help make possible, POV presents special Producers' Events throughout each season.

We'll bring you behind the scenes to experience the drama, the excitement, the beauty, and the intimacy of our productions. You will be invited to Private Producers' Concerts, closed Working Rehearsals, and tours of our Production Shop to bring you inside the productions you support.

Each season brings a new cycle of Producers' Events, and as a donor you are entitled to benefits and events for a full year.

In addition to inviting you to Producers' Events, we recognize your generosity with the following benefits.

  • Membership in the POV Society ($75 and above)

  • Choreographer:    $75-$149
  • Designer:    $150-$249
