A multi award-winning lighting designer, Gerald King has designed a number of productions for Pacific Opera Victoria, beginning with Giulio Cesare (2002). Subsequent designs for POV include La Bohème (2002), Lucia di Lammermoor (2003), Carmen (2004), Tosca (2005), Eugene Onegin (2005), The Rape of Lucretia (2006), Daphne and Don Giovanni (2007), Madama Butterfly (2008), and The Magic Flute, The Rake's Progress (2009), and Barber's Vanessa (2011).

Other opera designs include Madama Butterfly and La Clemenza di Tito for Vancouver Opera, The Tales of Hoffmann for Opera Lyra, The Pirates of Penzance for Edmonton Opera, Romeo and Juliet and Il Trovatore for Opera Saskatchewan, The Magic Flute and Faust for Manitoba Opera.

Gerald King has worked extensively for many companies in Canada and has seen his work tour to the USA, Europe and Asia. He works as frequently in Theatre as he does in Modern Dance, Ballet and Opera including the Vancouver Playhouse, Ballet British Columbia, The National Ballet of Canada, The National Arts Centre, Bard on the Beach, the Belfry Theatre, the Arts Club Theatre, Kokoro Dance, Western Canada Theatre, and the Great Canadian Theatre Company and Pacific Opera Victoria. Gerald has won eight Jessie Richardson Awards for Lighting Designs and is a member of the Associated Designers of Canada.
