Pacific Opera Victoria
John made his Pacific Opera Victoria debut as set and costume designer for the 2007 production of Don Giovanni. He returned in 2009 to design Mozart's The Magic Flute, and is designing POV's February 2011 production of La Bohème.
John has been resident designer for Theatre Calgary, Neptune Theatre, The National Arts Centre, and the Canadian Stage Company.
He has designed for all the major regional theatres from coast to coast as well as Mirvish Productions, the Canadian Opera Company, the Shaw Festival, and the Stratford Festival where he has designed twenty productions. He is the recipient of two Dora Mavor Moore Awards, Montreal's la Soirée des Masques Award, Vancouver's Jessie Richardson Award and a Tyrone Guthrie Award.
Set and costume designer John Ferguson accomplishes quality stagecraft combining three-dimensional sets and photographic projections. His marvellous clothing evokes a time and place of fin-de-siècle Vienna.
